Hey y'all, my wonderful frogs and fairies,

To those of you who have not received your books yet, I owe an apology. This stage of the project, like everything else in my life, is taking exponentially longer to complete than anticipated. Quel suprise

I have been struggling to write to you, for the usual reasons. It is hard, sometimes, to keep a grip on reality through the distorting lens of the shame-fog that my brain often generates. I don't want to lend that shame any power by speaking with its voice. Sometimes it takes me far too long to find my own voice, and the things I really mean and wish to say.

I want you to know that I never for a moment stop holding myself accountable to each and every one of you. You took a chance and presented me with a magnificent opportunity, to create and share something with all of you. As always, your patience - and, honestly, the fact that some of you care enough about this project to be impatient, as well - means the flipping world to me.

I am taking every opportunity that presents itself to get another round of books into the mail. Hang in there, loves. They're coming.

I was not brought up in any religious tradition; but I was raised to believe that this time of year can be, if we strive for it, sacred to kindness, to enthusiasm and community, to love and wonder and peace. It's hard to hold onto the hope of brighter things, sometimes.  I hope you all find some spectacular moments of joy and beauty over the next days, as the year turns from darkness towards light again.

Very best,

Kit

Honesty and Big News (1)
over 6 years ago – Sat, Jul 01, 2017 at 01:50:09 PM

Hello, my Knights and Dragons,

The last few steps of this project turned into a grueling scree-slope clamber: I hit creative block after block after block, and while I - notably - never once doubted that i'd see the finish line of this project, I knew it was starting to look pretty bad from the outside. And friends, that sort of thing can really mess you up.

So I'd like to apologize for my Utterly Rubbish Communication Skills throughout the last few months; I should have trusted you all a little more, and if we ever find ourselves here again I'll endeavour to do much better.

That said:
...holy cats, I've been waiting to type this for a really long time now.

We sent the book to the printers today.

(Pause for momentary jubilant howling or triumphant silence, according to your preference.)

Wow, everyone. We're here.

Thanks over and over again to my stalwart Wizard of Design, Jon Washer, for his incredibly hard work and support on this project.

This is the middle of a US holiday weekend, of course, because my timing is, as ever, phenomenal. So it will take a couple of days for anything to happen, until the business world starts running again.

The next thing that happens after that is that I receive a proof copy, and I experience some feelings, and then I look it over; and if everything's kosher, then we go on ahead with printing, and then move on to getting the books out to all of you wonderful patient people!

Get in touch if you have any questions. More news very soon.

Much Love,

Kit
